FLORIDA, USA — The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) on Tuesday introduced a high-performance addition to its fleet: a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray, now officially patrolling state highways.

In a Facebook post, FHP shared images of the sleek new sports car, stating it will be used not only for patrol purposes but also for educational outreach events across Florida. The car, which has an MSRP starting at $65,895, was not purchased using state funds. Instead, it was seized during a joint operation between FHP and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

According to Chevrolet, the C8 Stingray is capable of going 0–60 mph in just 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 194 mph — making it one of the fastest vehicles on Florida highways.

FHP emphasized that the vehicle will support their mission of keeping roadways safe. But beyond outreach and enforcement, the presence of such a fast car on the highway serves as a strong message to reckless and aggressive drivers — especially truckers and speeders:

"Let this be a reminder — no matter how fast you think you are, there’s always someone faster watching. Stay safe, drive smart, and respect the road — especially if you're behind the wheel of a big rig."
