BAYLOR COUNTY, Texas — Hurricane-strength winds reaching up to 106 mph caused widespread damage in North Texas on Tuesday, April 29th, overturning semi trucks, trailers, and severely impacting buildings and businesses.

The strongest gust was reported in Seymour, Texas, with speeds of 106 mph, while areas farther west, like Guthrie, saw hail up to five inches in diameter.

Dramatic drone footage captured the destruction, showing multiple overturned semi trucks and trailers, including a horse trailer separated from its pickup truck. A local business sustained heavy damage, with another tractor-trailer flipped onto its side. Another semi truck sustained significant front-end damage after colliding with heavy equipment that had been blown onto a roadway.

A truck driver involved in one of the wrecks managed to escape his overturned rig through the passenger-side door but fell during his exit. A storm chaser on the scene quickly assisted the injured driver, providing first aid before transporting him to a nearby hospital, according to Fox Weather.

Authorities continue to assess damage across the region as cleanup efforts continue.
