THOMASVILLE, Ala. — A truck driver has been charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter following a deadly crash that claimed the lives of two people in Thomasville on Tuesday, May 6.

The crash happened shortly before noon on southbound Highway 43 at the intersection with South Industrial Park Drive. According to the Thomasville Police Department (TPD), a loaded semi truck and trailer slammed into four vehicles that were stopped at a red light.

Ashley Marie Springer McDonald, 37, and Woodie Earl Beck III, 53, were pronounced dead at the scene. Four other individuals were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The semi truck involved in the crash was owned by Chicago-based 4 US Transportation Company. Police say there were two men inside the truck at the time of the crash: driver Andrii Dmyterko, 45, and Denys Kucher, 31. Both men were reportedly in the U.S. on work visas.

Dmyterko was arrested and booked into the Clarke County Jail, where he faces two counts of vehicular manslaughter. Authorities say the case is still under investigation, and additional charges may follow.

A bystander captured the crash on video, which has since circulated online. Authorities are advising the public to view with caution due to the graphic nature of the footage.
