CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — One person was injured after a dramatic crash on Route 11 (Carlisle Pike) in Silver Spring Township on Wednesday afternoon, where a car became wedged beneath a fully-loaded tractor-trailer, according to PennDOT.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Carlisle Pike and Kost Road. Emergency officials reported that the vehicle became lodged under the semi during the impact.

A Life Lion helicopter was initially dispatched, but due to adverse weather conditions, it was unable to fly. Ground crews responded instead and transported the injured person to Penn State Health in Hershey.

The crash caused a closure of northbound lanes for more than an hour as emergency responders worked to clear the scene.

Authorities have not released further information about the condition of the injured individual or the cause of the crash.
