A high-speed crash involving a reckless driver and a parked semi-truck left one person seriously injured on the evening of Saturday, May 31, 2025, in Fresno, California.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision occurred on southbound Highway 99 near Fresno Street, where a semi-truck had pulled onto the shoulder due to a mechanical issue.

While the truck was stopped, a Ford Taurus reportedly driving recklessly on the shoulder slammed into the back of the trailer at high speed. CHP confirmed the driver of the Taurus was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained major injuries in the impact. The vehicle suffered extensive damage.

In a statement, the CHP Fresno Division said, “Our hearts go out to the injured driver, but this also serves as a reminder how excessive speed and reckless behavior can lead to devastating consequences. Drive responsibly and always wear your seatbelt.”

Authorities are using the incident to emphasize the importance of seatbelt use and obeying traffic laws to avoid preventable injuries on California roadways.
