A crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer early Saturday morning, June 7, 2025, shut down part of Interstate 95 northbound in East Lyme, Connecticut, and sent emergency crews rushing to the scene.
According to Connecticut State Police, the collision occurred around 6:49 a.m. near Exit 72. The impact caused the trailer to catch fire, leading to a full closure of the highway between Exits 72 and 73.
Minor injuries were reported in the crash.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) also responded due to a fuel leak caused by the collision. Officials say the spill was quickly mitigated, and there was no significant environmental damage.
The highway has since reopened, and the incident remains under investigation.
