Tractor-Trailer Hangs Off Bridge, Shuts Down I-83 in York County, Pennsylvania

A dramatic crash on Sunday evening, June 8, 2025, forced the closure of a section of Interstate 83 northbound in York County, Pennsylvania, after a tractor-trailer veered off the road and ended up hanging off a bridge.
The incident occurred between Market Street and Route 30, where the semi-truck came to rest partially suspended over railroad tracks beneath a concrete bridge, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). The truck was also reportedly leaking fuel following the crash.
Emergency crews quickly responded and safely removed the vehicle from the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Interstate 83 has since reopened, but PennDOT says crews will return Monday morning to assess any structural damage to the bridge caused by the crash.
