The Denton County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) has released key findings from a recent multi-agency truck inspection effort conducted as part of Roadcheck 2025, a coordinated North American safety campaign led by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA).

The 72-hour inspection initiative took place from May 13 to May 15, 2025, with DCSO partnering with several local and state law enforcement agencies to conduct roadside inspections of commercial vehicles at various locations across the region.

Key Results from Denton County’s Roadcheck Operation:

  • 165 Level 1 inspections completed

  • 0 Level 2 or Level 3 inspections conducted

  • 64 citations issued

  • 670 warnings issued

  • 117 total out-of-service violations discovered

  • 71 trucks placed out of service

  • 43% out-of-service rate among inspected trucks

The 43% out-of-service rate reported in Denton County is nearly double the overall national out-of-service rate recorded during Roadcheck 2024, which stood at just 23%, according to CVSA data.

Participating agencies included the Lewisville Police Department, City of Denton Police Department, Flower Mound Police Department, Carrollton Police Department, The Colony Police Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

While full national results for Roadcheck 2025 have not yet been released, Denton County authorities say their findings highlight the importance of proactive safety enforcement in the commercial transportation industry.
