Tractor-Trailer Crash Causes Major Delays on I-85 Near Tuckaseegee Road in Charlotte

A tractor-trailer crash caused significant traffic congestion on I-85 North in Charlotte Thursday morning after the vehicle veered into the median near Tuckaseegee Road, possibly striking structural supports under an overpass.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:54 a.m. near Mile Marker 35. According to initial information from Medic, one person was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Traffic camera footage from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) showed the truck resting in the median, close to the bridge’s support columns. Officials have not yet confirmed whether the overpass suffered any structural damage.
In response to the crash, one of the four northbound lanes was closed near Exit 34, contributing to heavy delays in the area throughout the morning.
The incident remains under investigation, and updates are expected from NC State Highway Patrol and Medic as more details become available.
