A semi-truck driver was killed Wednesday afternoon in a deadly collision with a Metrolink train in Moorpark, Ventura County, according to officials.

The crash occurred around 2:15 p.m. at a private, uncontrolled railroad crossing near Los Angeles Avenue and Montair Drive, involving Metrolink Ventura County Line Train 118, which was traveling southbound with 17 passengers and two crew members aboard.

According to KTLA, the front end of the big rig was torn off and dragged a considerable distance beneath the train. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, confirmed by the Ventura County Fire Department.

One person on the train sustained minor injuries.

All five train cars and the engine remained upright, and there was no derailment. Due to the crash, Metrolink service was partially suspended, with westbound trains ending routes at the Moorpark station, including trains 127 and 129.

The crash is under investigation by the Moorpark Police Department and the Ventura County Medical Examiner. CHP advised motorists to expect significant delays on State Route 118 while crews, including 45 VCFD personnel, remained at the scene.
