Crews from the Omaha Fire Department responded to a semi-truck fire early Sunday morning that resulted in the total loss of both the truck and its cargo.

The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on eastbound West Dodge Road near Skyline Drive. Authorities say the driver noticed the fire in time to safely pull over to the shoulder and exit the vehicle without injury.

The truck was hauling a load of meat, which was also destroyed in the blaze. Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene and managed to extinguish the flames, but the damage had already rendered the vehicle and its contents a total loss.

According to WOWT News, the Nebraska Department of Transportation confirmed that the affected portion of the road was fully reopened by approximately 4:20 p.m. Sunday.
