Overturned Tractor-Trailer Shuts Down I-270 North Near MD-109

Traffic came to a standstill early Wednesday after a tractor-trailer overturned on northbound I-270 near MD-109 (Old Hundred Road), causing all lanes to be shut down for several hours.

According to Alert Montgomery, the crash occurred around 7:07 a.m. in the vicinity of Dr. Perry Road, impacting commuters in the Ijamsville and Urbana areas. Emergency units from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS), including A735, RS729, T734, PE735, BC705, and AT735, responded to the scene. They were assisted by the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services (FCDFRS).

The incident caused heavy delays throughout the morning rush hour.

According to MoCoShow, all lanes were reopened by 11:05 a.m., but drivers were still advised to expect residual traffic.
