One Woman Killed, Two Injured in Tractor-Trailer Crash on I-81 in Washington County

A deadly crash involving two tractor-trailers and a passenger vehicle shut down all northbound lanes of Interstate 81 near mile marker 2 in the Williamsport area of Washington County, Maryland, on Thursday morning. A 36-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two truck drivers were transported to the hospital with injuries. The extent of their injuries has not yet been released.
According to DC News Now, the crash left one FedEx truck off the road and into a tree line, while another tractor-trailer suffered heavy front-end damage. The second truck’s trailer was ripped open, spilling barrels and pieces of wood across the highway. Photos from the scene showed widespread debris and damage. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, along with a HazMat crew, responded to manage the closures and cleanup. Officials said the incident would cause an extended road closure and urged drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes due to significant traffic delays.
