TECUMSEH, Ontario — Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a bizarre theft involving two transport trucks and a trailer containing $35,000 worth of salsa and dips. The incident began on September 27 at 8:30 p.m. when a truck and a 53-foot enclosed trailer were stolen from the 1900 block of Ellis Sideroad in Tecumseh. The trailer was filled with cases of salsa and dips.

According to CTV News The truck was later returned, but it was damaged and missing the trailer. Less than an hour later, at 9:40 p.m., a second truck — this time without a trailer — was stolen from the 2800 block of North Talbot Road. That second truck was later spotted towing what is believed to be the stolen trailer on County Road 34 in Essex.

Two days later, on September 29, police located the second stolen truck in Ajax, Ontario, but the 53-foot trailer and its cargo have not been recovered. Investigators believe a Jeep Rubicon may also be connected to the crime, as it was seen in the area during the thefts.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
