Truck Carrying Sod Overturns After Driver Loses Control in Polk County Roundabout

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A tractor-trailer transporting sod overturned Sunday morning in Polk County after the driver reportedly entered a roundabout too fast near the entrance ramp to Interstate 4.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:28 AM on October 5, 2025, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). A 35-year-old man from Wauchula was driving northbound on County Road 557 when he attempted to navigate the roundabout at the I-4 on-ramp.
Authorities say the truck was “traveling too fast for conditions,” causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
The truck overturned onto the outside shoulder of the roadway. Despite the crash, the driver was not injured. The roadway was later cleared and reopened.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
