RANKFORT, Ky. — Law enforcement agencies across six states are teaming up this weekend for a coordinated traffic enforcement effort as part of the 6-State Trooper Project.

From October 10 through October 12, 2025, state police agencies from Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia will increase patrols aimed at reducing crashes and highway fatalities.

Troopers will be on the lookout for speeding, seat belt violations, and impaired driving, according to participating agencies. The 6-State Trooper Project is a multi-state partnership that focuses on traffic safety through collaboration and high-visibility patrols.

The Kentucky State Police, one of the participating agencies, shared several safety reminders for motorists:

  • Obey the speed limit to allow more reaction time and reduce crash severity.

  • Buckle up every time, as seat belts remain the most effective protection in a crash.

  • Drive sober, and never get behind the wheel while impaired — use a rideshare or call a friend.

  • Report dangerous driving by contacting your local KSP Post or dialing 911.

According to the Kentucky State Police, the initiative underscores a shared commitment to saving lives on America’s highways through coordinated enforcement and education efforts.
