Driver hospitalized after crashing into tractor-trailer at full speed on I-95 in Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. — A pickup truck driver was hospitalized Thursday night after crashing into the back of a tractor-trailer at full speed on Interstate 95 in Norwalk, officials said.
Firefighters responded to the crash on I-95 North between exits 16 and 17 around 11:12 p.m., where they found a pickup truck wedged under the rear of a tractor-trailer, according to the Norwalk Fire Department. Crews worked for about 25 minutes to remove the pickup’s door while simultaneously lifting the trailer to free the trapped driver.
According to NBC Connecticut, the driver was conscious and alert when rescued and was transported to Norwalk Hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released an update on his condition. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to the Norwalk Fire Department.
