FORT WORTH, Texas — A twin-engine plane crash near Hicks Airfield in northwest Fort Worth killed two people and sparked a massive fire that destroyed at least ten semi-trucks at a nearby industrial park, officials said.

The aircraft went down Sunday afternoon off North Saginaw Boulevard, just two miles from Hicks Airfield, after taking off from Alliance Airport, according to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. Surveillance footage showed the plane plummeting to the ground and erupting into flames moments before crashing into a row of parked tractor-trailers behind the Saginaw Boulevard Industrial Business Park.

According to FOX 4 News the fire spread quickly across the lot, engulfing multiple semi-trucks and trailers before firefighters contained the blaze. Nearby business owners described hearing a loud explosion and seeing thick black smoke. “You thought for a moment your business was on fire,” said Arleth Rodriguez, co-owner of Texas Performance Exhaust Shop, located just a hundred feet from the impact site.

Solutions Group Services confirmed Monday that one of the crash victims was Michael Daly, a software developer with the company. In a statement, the president called him a “devoted husband and loving father of four” and “a man of deep faith and vision.”

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the crash. The identity of the second victim and the total number of people on board remain unconfirmed, according to FOX 4 News.
