60-year-old truck driver dies while picking up spilled cargo at Pepsi plant

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A 60-year-old truck driver was killed Wednesday afternoon after being pinned between a trailer and a loading dock at the Pepsi Bottling Plant in northeast San Antonio, authorities said.
The fatal workplace accident occurred just before 1 p.m. at the facility located on Northeast Loop 410 near Old Seguin Road, according to San Antonio Police.
Investigators said the driver had stepped out of his truck and put on his safety vest after noticing that part of his cargo had spilled into the parking area. While he was picking up the items, another tractor-trailer began backing into a nearby loading space and struck him, pinning him against the dock.
According to News 4 San Antonio, paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police confirmed. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
