LITTLEFIELD, Arizona — A wrong-way driver was killed early Sunday morning after colliding head-on with a semi-truck on Interstate 15 near mile marker 11, according to first responders.

The crash occurred shortly after 3:17 a.m. near the Desert Springs exit, northeast of Littlefield. Authorities said the passenger car, traveling northbound in the southbound lanes, struck the semi-truck head-on after entering the interstate through a fence from the frontage road near mile marker 8.

According to Beaver Dam/Littlefield Fire District Capt. Larry Lydon, the driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene. The semi-truck driver was injured and transported by emergency personnel for treatment.
