Two children and one adult killed after semi-truck crashes into stopped pickup on I-10 in Kendall County
KENDALL COUNTY, Texas — A devastating crash on Interstate 10 claimed the lives of one adult and two children Monday afternoon after a semi-truck struck a stopped pickup truck near mile marker 524, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Troopers said the collision occurred around 3:19 p.m. when a 2013 GMC Sierra was stopped in the right lane of the highway for unknown reasons. A 2018 Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck traveling westbound slammed into the back of the pickup, killing three of the five occupants instantly.
The victims were identified as 23-year-old Giselle Cristobal and two young boys, both pronounced dead at the scene. The 31-year-old female driver of the GMC and a 2-year-old girl were critically injured — the child was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital, while the adult was transported by ground ambulance.

According to News 4 San Antonio, the driver of the semi-truck was unharmed. The highway was closed for several hours as DPS investigators worked to reconstruct the scene.
Authorities have not released details on why the pickup was stopped, and the investigation remains ongoing.
