Missouri police are asking for help from the public in locating a truck driver wanted on murder charges related to the death of the man’s girlfriend and her daughter.

On August 25, the Boone County Prosecuting Attorney issued two charges of Murder in the First Degree to 45 year old JT McLean, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO).

The charges were issued after a concerned citizen called police around 11 p.m. on August 22 after being unable to get in touch with Allison Abitz, 43, and her daughter Jozee Abitz, 11.

When police arrived at the residence, located in the 7500 block of Lavender Drive south of Columbia, Missouri, both Allison and Jozee Abitz were found deceased.

Police learned that McLean was in a long-term relationship with Allison Abitz and that he was the last person who had been in contact with the two victims.

“During the investigation, probable cause was developed to believe that McLean murdered Allison and Jozee. Currently, the motive for the murder of these victims is unknown,” the BCSO said.

McLean is described as a white male with a fair complexion who is approximately 5’09” tall and weighs approximately 210 pounds. He was last seen with longer hair but has also been known to shave his head.

McLean has previously changed his name and sometimes goes by aliases including John McLean, Steven Nagy, and Steven McLean.

McLean’s last known residence was in Fulton, Missouri. He is an over the road truck driver with ties to:

  • Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Chicago, Illinois
  • St. Peter, Minnesota
  • Columbia, Missouri
  • Fulton, Missouri

Anyone with information on McLean’s whereabouts is asked to call Boone County Joint Communications by calling 573-442-6131.

A warrant has been issued for McLean’s arrest and his bond has been set at $1,000,000.00 cash only.

Allison Abitz was a teacher at Bush Elementary in Fulton.

Columbia Acro & Tumbling Team shared a Facebook post with dozens of photos of Jozee Abitz performing gymnastics.
