Police seek suspects after pumpkin thrown from overpass smashes truck windshield on Pennsylvania Turnpike
BOWMANSVILLE, Pa. — State Police are searching for the individuals who threw multiple pumpkins from an overpass along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, striking a tractor-trailer and shattering its windshield late Wednesday night.
The incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on November 13 as a 2017 Peterbilt 579 was traveling westbound at Mile Marker 288.5 in East Cocalico Township, according to FOX43. The truck, driven by 75-year-old Curtis Baker of Camden, Delaware, was hit by one of the pumpkins, which smashed the windshield. Baker was not injured.
Troopers say multiple pumpkins were thrown from the overpass, but only one struck the truck. Investigators are treating the case as propulsion of a missile into an occupied vehicle, a second-degree misdemeanor under Pennsylvania law when no injuries occur.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the State Police Bowmansville Station at (717) 445-6716 as the investigation continues.
