Tractor-trailer hauling pipe crashes into building, driver rescued from wreckage
CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. — A tractor-trailer driver was freed and taken to the hospital Monday morning after his rig slammed into a building in Cabell County, causing part of the structure to collapse.
The crash happened at SMC Electrical Products near the intersection of Route 2 and the Big Ben Bowen Highway in Lesage. Officials said the semi, which was hauling pipe, lost control in heavy fog before crashing directly into the building.

First responders arrived to find the driver trapped inside the cab. Crews worked quickly to free him from the wreckage before transporting him to a nearby hospital. Authorities said he was alert and conscious when rescued, though the extent of his injuries has not yet been released.

No employees were inside the building at the time of the crash, according to officials.
The incident remains under investigation.
