HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS — An 18-wheeler driver was arrested early Monday morning after allegedly attempting to run another vehicle off the roadway during a road rage incident on the West Sam Houston Tollway North, according to the Precinct 5 Constable’s Office.

The confrontation occurred on December 1, when the driver of a passenger vehicle reported that the semi-truck operator aggressively tried to force him off the road while traveling southbound on Beltway 8 just past West Road. The victim continued following the big rig while staying on the phone with Precinct 5 dispatch, providing real-time updates on the truck’s movements.

According to Constable Terry Allbritton’s Office, deputies located both vehicles and performed a traffic stop in the southbound lanes. Investigators reviewed dashcam footage from the complainant’s vehicle, which corroborated his report that the truck driver attempted to run him off the roadway. Deputies took the semi-truck driver into custody at the scene.

The trucker is now facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, given that an 18-wheeler can be used as a lethal instrument when operated aggressively. Authorities have not yet released the driver's identity.

The incident remains under investigation as officials determine whether additional charges or violations apply.
