DUSON, Louisiana — A Florida truck driver is behind bars after police say he stole multiple items — including two brand-new semi-truck tires — from a fellow trucker’s parked big rig at a Duson truck stop.

According to the Duson Police Department, the investigation began on December 5, when a local truck driver reported that two new tires, a CB radio, and a GPS unit had been taken from his unattended semi at the Duson Truck Stop on Daulat Road.

Detectives reviewed crime-camera footage and identified a 2014 Freightliner that entered Duson via I-10 early on December 4. The truck parked directly beside the victim’s rig. When it left, cameras captured two large tires strapped to the back of the cab. Investigators later determined the stolen tires were mounted on that same Freightliner after it reached Baytown, Texas.

The Freightliner continued west into California, picked up a trailer loaded with pasta, and then began traveling eastbound on I-10.

In the early morning hours of December 8, Duson Police Officer Larry Isadore — conducting proactive patrols — spotted the same Freightliner backed in next to the victim’s truck again. The driver, 35-year-old Seidel Carrazana of Hialeah, Florida, was questioned.

Officers immediately noticed the Freightliner was equipped with two mismatched tires — the same brand and tread pattern reported stolen. Sgt. Calvin Francis also observed that another tire had gone missing from the victim’s truck. The rig was propped up by a small jack, and officers found what appeared to be the missing tire under the trailer attached to Carrazana’s truck.

The truck’s owner confirmed that no one was authorized to remove any tires. Carrazana was arrested on the spot and declined to cooperate, requesting an attorney.

Carrazana, a Cuban national with unconfirmed immigration status, is being held at the Acadia Parish Jail on one count of vehicle burglary and two separate theft charges. Additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues.

Duson Police Chief Kip Judice praised the teamwork and persistence that led to the arrest and recovery of the stolen property, saying the officers’ proactive efforts produced “a positive outcome for the victim.”

According to the Duson Police Department, the case remains open as investigators review Carrazana’s travel path and possible additional thefts.
