35-Year-Old Tractor-Trailer Driver, Shot Through Cab Door While Traveling on I-95 South in Richmond
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA — A 35-year-old tractor-trailer driver from Atlanta was hospitalized after being shot through the passenger-side door of his semi while driving on Interstate 95 South in Richmond on Wednesday night, according to Virginia State Police.

The shooting happened just after 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, on I-95 South near the Bells Road exit. Investigators say the man was behind the wheel of a Peterbilt tractor-trailer when a bullet entered through the passenger-side door and struck him in the leg. He managed to stop the truck and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Southbound traffic was detoured at Exit 73 (Maury Street) for several hours while troopers shut down the highway to search for shell casings and other evidence, with all lanes reopening around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the ongoing probe, and troopers are asking anyone who may have seen the incident or a suspicious vehicle in the area around the time of the shooting to call 804-750-8758, dial #77, or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
