Mystery Amazon Trailer Left Abandoned for Days Along Highway 97 Near Bend Was Hauled Away
BEND, OREGON — An abandoned Amazon trailer that had been sitting along Highway 97 south of Bend for several days was hauled away by Wednesday morning after being tagged by the Oregon Department of Transportation, and officials have not confirmed who retrieved it.

The semi-truck container was seen for a couple of days on the northbound shoulder near Lava Butte, just south of Bend. By Tuesday morning, the Oregon Department of Transportation had tagged the trailer.
Amazon told Central Oregon Daily on Tuesday that it was looking into the situation and trying to determine whether any packages were inside the trailer. Amazon also said it does not employ delivery drivers directly but contracts that work out instead. In another statement included in the report, Amazon said it does employ contract drivers to haul these trailers.
The trailer remained on the shoulder Tuesday night. Sometime overnight, it was picked up and hauled away, and by Wednesday morning it was no longer at the location.
It remains unclear who claimed the trailer, and no further information has been released. The Oregon Department of Transportation has not yet responded to requests for comment.
The situation remains under review, and authorities have not provided additional details.
