Per diem rates for truck drivers to increase starting in October

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced that per diem rates will be increasing next month.
Effective October 1, 2021, truck driver per diem rates will increase by $3 across the board.
The rates will go up to $69 for any locality of travel in the continental United States and up to $74 for any locality of travel outside of the continental United States.
This marks the first increase in per diem rates in three years.
Per diem is an IRS “reimbursement” for expenses like food and lodging that are incurred while working away from home.
