According to DPS spokesperson Sgt. Maria Hernandez, the tractor-trailer struck a pole and a tree, and the trailer caught fire. DPS said the driver was engulfed in flames and was burned beyond recognition. The driver’s identity has not been released and will not be confirmed until next of kin are notified, Hernandez said.

In an update on the closure, the Texas Department of Transportation said FM 186 is closed from U.S. 281 to west of Brushline Road due to the crash as investigators continue working the scene.
