MASARDIS, MAINE — A tractor-trailer hauling a fresh load of wood became tangled in power lines on Route 11 in Masardis Monday morning after the driver attempted to cross an intersection at the local mill with an overfilled load, according to the Maine State Police.

Maine State Police said troopers responded around 9:02 a.m. on January 5, 2026, to reports of a tractor-trailer stuck in the power lines. Investigators determined the driver had just received the load of wood from the mill in Masardis and then tried to cross the intersection at the mill. Because the load was overfilled, the boom on the vehicle and the load on the trailer caught the overhead lines, leaving the truck hung up and immobile.

The incident blocked the northbound lane of Route 11 for multiple hours while crews worked to secure the scene and address the hazard created by the downed or tensioned lines. State police said multiple agencies responded to assist, including Ashland Fire Department, Masardis Fire Department, the Maine Forest Service, Ashland EMS, and Versant Power.

The Maine State Police investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
