BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA — A semi-truck driver struck a pedestrian Friday evening on the ramp from southbound Interstate 35W to Cliff Road, sending the pedestrian to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The crash happened at approximately 7:15 p.m. on January 9. State Patrol said the semi-truck was traveling southbound on Interstate 35W, took the Cliff Road ramp, and struck a pedestrian and a vehicle that were in the roadway.

Troopers identified the semi-truck driver as Said Hassan Ali, 60, of Minneapolis. He was driving a 2014 International Prostar, was wearing a seat belt, and was not injured. State Patrol said alcohol was not involved.

The other vehicle involved was a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox driven by James Raymond Stone, 38, of Lakeville. Troopers said Stone was outside of his vehicle at the time of the crash and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Hennepin Healthcare, and an update on his condition was not immediately available.

Road conditions were reported to be dry at the time of the crash. State Patrol said MnDOT traffic cameras captured the crash and its aftermath as investigators continued documenting what happened on the ramp.
