MILTON, NEW YORK — Emergency crews performed a roof removal to rescue a person trapped inside a car after a crash involving a tractor-trailer Monday morning at a Milton intersection, according to the Ballston Spa Fire Department.

The crash was reported around 11:17 a.m. at Galway Road and Middleline Road, officials said. Responding units were advised it was a car versus tractor-trailer collision with a patient trapped inside the car.

Ballston Spa fire officials said ER-144, led by Lt. Tinney, arrived first and began scene assessment and patient contact. Rescue crews from Eagle-Matt Lee Fire Co. #1 and Ballston Spa then worked together to remove the vehicle’s roof to safely extricate the patient, officials said.

During the rescue, Ballston Spa Fire Police controlled traffic in the area to allow for safe operations. The extrication was completed and the patient was transferred to EMS for evaluation, treatment, and transport to a hospital, officials said.

Authorities said there was no immediate word on the patient’s condition. Ballston Spa Fire Department units remained on scene until they were released at approximately 12:46 p.m. by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
