81-Foot-Wide Building Takes Entire Roadway as North Dakota Troopers Escort Oversized Load During Slow 5-Mile Move for About 2 Hours
CASS COUNTY, NORTH DAKOTA — North Dakota Highway Patrol troopers escorted a heavy-haul move Wednesday as an oversized building measuring 81 feet wide traveled a five-mile stretch of Highway 46 from County Road 17 to west of Kindred, according to NDHP.

Officials said the move took place Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, along Hwy 46, starting at Co. Rd. 17 in Cass County and ending west of Kindred. Troopers said the building being transported measured 81 feet wide, 81 feet long, and 35 feet high.

NDHP warned the convoy would be slow-moving and would take up the entire roadway during the transport. Motorists were encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid the area.

Officials said the move was expected to impact traffic for approximately 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
