Semi Hauling Paper Products Gets Stuck on West Irish Street Crossing and Is Hit by Train as Driver Escapes
GREENEVILLE, TENNESSEE — A semi-truck was struck by a train Wednesday morning in Greeneville after police said the truck became stuck on a railroad crossing before officers arrived on scene.

According to the Greeneville Police Department, dispatchers received a call at approximately 10:24 a.m. reporting a semi-truck stuck on the West Irish Street railroad crossing near the intersection with Railroad Street. Police said a train hit the truck before responding officers arrived.

Authorities said the truck driver was able to get out of the vehicle prior to the impact and no injuries were reported.
Police said the semi was hauling paper products for a nearby delivery. As of 1:37 p.m., cleanup operations were still ongoing at the crash scene.
