Nevada Highway Patrol Searching for Blue Kenworth Semi With Front-End Damage After Bicyclist Killed in I-80 Hit-and-Run
SPARKS, NEVADA — The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred early Saturday morning on westbound Interstate 80 near Vista Boulevard and is asking for the public’s help locating a commercial truck believed to be involved.
According to NHP, the crash happened at approximately 5:10 a.m. on January 24, 2026, when a man riding a bicycle on westbound I-80, east of Vista Boulevard, was struck by a vehicle. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the bicyclist deceased.
Investigators believe a blue semi-truck may have been involved in the collision. Authorities say the truck is possibly a Kenworth and is expected to have damage to the front right area. The semi may also display a unit number “122” in white lettering. The vehicle reportedly left the scene following the crash.
Westbound I-80 was closed at Mustang, near mile marker 25, for approximately three hours while troopers conducted the investigation. The freeway reopened at 8:17 a.m., and the scene has since been cleared.
Nevada Highway Patrol officials say additional details will be released as the investigation continues and after next of kin notification is completed.
