“It May Look Wet, But It’s Ice” ISP Warns as Overturned Semi Blocks I-465 Northbound on Indy’s West Side

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) reported the crash happened shortly after 10 a.m. on I-465 northbound between Rockville Road and Washington Street. Several lanes were closed, though some traffic appeared to be getting by on the far-left shoulder. INDOT said an “extended clean up” was expected.

As of the latest update, Indiana State Police had not reported any injuries. The cause of the crash has not been released.
Troopers continued urging drivers to slow down and use caution, warning that extreme cold can make salt less effective and leave roads deceptively slick.
“The pavement may look ‘just wet,’ but trust me, it’s ice,” Sgt. John Perrine said.
INDOT also reported that as of 11 a.m., there were 10 active crashes or traffic hazards on Indianapolis-area interstates.
