SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO — Two separate semi-trucks crashed through the same guardrail and into the woods along I-76 westbound in Summit County Tuesday, with the second wreck happening just over 30 minutes after the first and narrowly missing the already-crashed truck, according to reports.

The first crash happened around 11:30 a.m. on I-76 West after CR-18. Just over a half hour later, a second semi-truck crashed through the same guardrail in the same area and nearly struck the first semi that was already off the roadway in the woods.

First crash

Following the crashes, the right lane of I-76 West was blocked just before the Tallmadge/Mogadore Exit 29. Westbound traffic backed up bumper-to-bumper from the Brimfield area near the I-76/OH-43 interchange, past the Summit County line, and continued to the area where I-76 meets Southeast Avenue.

Second crash

On the eastbound side, curiosity slowdowns added delays, and a separate crash also blocked a lane on I-76 East after OH-532, backing traffic up from where the highway meets North Canton Road.

Second crash

All crashes on I-76 were reported cleared by 2:45 p.m. Authorities had not confirmed whether any of the semi drivers were injured, and the causes of both westbound crashes were not immediately known.
