U-Turn Attempt Sends Tractor-Trailer Jackknifing Into Median, Forcing Route 58 Shutdown in Suffolk
SUFFOLK, Va. — Route 58 in the Holland area of Suffolk reopened Wednesday evening after a tractor-trailer incident temporarily shut down westbound traffic.
According to the City of Suffolk, the crash occurred just after 4 p.m. on February 18, 2026, when a tractor-trailer attempting to make a U-turn on the Holland Bypass became jackknifed and left the roadway. The truck came to rest in the median.
The trailer partially blocked the westbound travel lane, forcing authorities to temporarily close U.S. Route 58 westbound and divert traffic onto U.S. Route 58 Business. A detour was also put in place, according to 511 Virginia.
The Virginia Department of Transportation reported that all westbound lanes near South Quay Road were closed after the tractor-trailer went into the grass off Route 58 westbound and blocked the roadway.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
