ARIZONA — Troopers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol discovered 151 violations during a pair of maximum enforcement details conducted along Interstate 10 this week, placing nine drivers and eight vehicles out of service.

The AZDPS Highway Patrol's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit conducted two maximum enforcement details along I-10, yielding the following results: 46 total inspections, 151 total violations, 9 drivers placed out of service, 8 vehicles placed out of service, and 15 citations issued.

The I-10 enforcement details come on the heels of the annual Operation Southern Shield inspection and enforcement effort, which took place February 24 through February 27, 2026, along I-10 from Phoenix to the New Mexico state line and on I-19 from Tucson to the international border. More than 80 commercial vehicle enforcement inspectors participated in Operation Southern Shield, representing the Arizona Commercial Vehicle Safety Partnership, the Pima County Sheriff's Office, the Marana Police Department, the Buckeye Police Department, the Goodyear Police Department, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. That operation focused on motor carrier safety regulations including driver qualifications, hours of service, hazardous moving violations, distracted driving, and seat belt violations.

"The mission of the Arizona Commercial Vehicle Safety Partnership is to ensure safe, secure, and efficient commercial transport across Arizona," AZDPS said.
