LOGAN COUNTY, KANSAS — A 68-year-old Oakley man died Saturday evening after his Chevrolet Tahoe was struck by a semi-truck driven by a 15-year-old at a rural Logan County intersection, causing the Tahoe to rotate, roll, and come to rest on the roadway.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at approximately 7 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 430 and Apache Acre, approximately two miles south of Oakley. A 1989 semi hauling a 2008 Mercury trailer was traveling northbound on County Road 430 when it collided with a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling eastbound on Apache Acre. Both vehicles entered the east ditch. The Tahoe rotated and rolled after impact, coming to rest on County Road 430.

The Tahoe driver, Maynard K. Unruh, 68, of Oakley, was transported to Logan County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead approximately two hours later. The semi driver, a 15-year-old from Oakley, suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.

KHP said neither driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
