EASTON, MARYLAND — Multiple people were transported to the hospital late Wednesday night after a tractor-trailer and seven passenger vehicles collided at the intersection of US Route 50 and Dover Road in Easton, triggering a hazmat response after diesel fuel leaked across the roadway and debris spread across multiple vehicles.

Talbot Center dispatched the Easton Volunteer Fire Department and Talbot County Paramedics at approximately 10:41 p.m. on June 24. Due to the number of vehicles involved, the call was upgraded to a Rescue Box response.

The tractor-trailer was found leaking diesel fuel, with a large quantity on the roadway and a widespread debris field extending across multiple vehicles. The Rescue Fire Company of Cambridge responded with their spill trailer to help secure the remaining diesel in the tractor-trailer's fuel tank. Maryland's State Highway Administration also responded to coordinate traffic around the scene.

An unspecified number of patients were transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton. The extent of their injuries was not released.
