A truck driver accused of hitting a police officer in Tennessee will be held on $1 million bond, a judge has ruled.

The fatal incident happened last Thursday, February 3rd. The truck driver in question, 43-year-old Christopher Savannah, had his bond set on Monday, February 7th in Roane County, Tennessee.

According to WVLT News 8, Savannah failed to slow for a rolling barricade set up by the now-deceased Sheriff as he attempted to remove a ladder from the roadway. Police records show he was under the influence at the time of the wreck.

Officials say that Savannah did not have a CDL at the time of the wreck, and the judge noted that Savannah failed to appear in court for a moving violation in Texas. He had also been previously convicted of other charges related to speeding and traffic.

Savannah has been charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication, vehicular homicide by recklessness, reckless endangerment x2, DUI, simple possession, possession of a handgun under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and other traffic charges. He will be held on $1 million bond and his next court appearance will occur on Feb. 22 at 1:00 p.m
