A fire department out of northern Idaho is garnering nationwide attention for shining a light on the patience and professionalism of a group of log truck drivers following a crash on Monday morning.

It all began with an early morning two-vehicle collision on September 13 on Highway 12 at mile marker 54 near Kamiah, Idaho.

The crash took two hours to clear and left a long line of log trucks backed up on the highway.

Kamiah Fire-Rescue shared a heartfelt Facebook post pointing out the multiple ways that truckers came to the rescue.

Firefighters wrote:

We also wanted to share something from this accident this morning that was very cool and we want to recognize them.

Truck drivers are often first on the scene of many accidents. And yes, sometimes they are “in” the accident.

But today, they used a fire extinguisher before we got there to decrease a situation, they helped with patient removal (we don’t recommend it on every accident), they helped block other traffic, and they helped us get small passenger vehicles rolling once we got one lane open.

But when was the last time anyone saw something like this?

Log trucks stacked when it was time to go.

Please give them room on the road, do not be in a hurry to pass them as they might be the person who helps you a minute later.

So thank you to the men and women who operate the “big rigs” in Idaho.

Moving American wood for your home and business.

Kamiah Fire-Rescue also shared video of the log truck drivers passing after they waited patiently for the crash to clear.
