Virginia police investigate fatal shooting in truck stop parking lot

Police have one person in custody and are seeking one other person in connection with a deadly shooting at truck stop on Sunday evening.

 

The shooting occurred around 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, at the Pilot Travel Center on Ruffin Mill Rd. in Chesterfield County, Virginia.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a person in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The suspects had reportedly fled the truck stop in a vehicle.

 

The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.

Shortly after the shooting was reported, a crash occurred at the intersection of W. Hundred Road and Route 1 involving the vehicle associated with the shooting. One person was taken into custody.

Police are still searching for a second person fled from the scene of the crash. He is described as a 6’3″ black male wearing a white T-shirt and red gym shorts.

 

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
