Patrol car ripped apart in “pretty horrific impact” with stopped tractor trailer

A police officer is dead after clipping the back of a tractor trailer stopped on the shoulder of a Texas Highway on Wednesday. 

 

The accident happened on Wednesday, May 11th in Harris County on Highway 249 at Spring Cypress Road in North Houston, Texas. 

According to ABC 13 News, 27-year-old Robert Adam Howard clipped the back of the semi truck stopped on the shoulder, which ripped apart the car and took a piece of the trailer with it. Howard was critically injured in the wreck. 

 

As Howard was being transported to the hospital, an officer escorting the ambulance fell off his motorcycle on northbound I-45 North Freeway just before the Woodlands Parkway. That officer was also transported to the hospital and is said to be in fair condition. Howard died of his injuries at the hospital. 

No further information has been released.
