With the 72 hour Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance Roadcheck inspection campaign underway, the Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) stopped a log truck driver with an overweight load — and a lot of honesty.
In a May 18 social media post, Georgia DPS explained, “Just a bit Heavy. This driver knew he was overloaded; he told the officer he didn’t think any Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD) would be around to stop him.“
Georgia DPS also shared a photo of the truck driver’s overweight assessment citation showing a fine of $2,305 issued to the driver.

During International Roadcheck taking place May 17 — 19 in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, nearly 15 trucks or buses inspected, on average, every minute for the 72 hour period.
