One dead, ten injured in seven-vehicle wreck

One has died and ten others have been injured after a wreck involving a semi truck and six other vehicles in Chicago on Tuesday morning. 

 

The accident happened on May 24th at around 6 a.m. on southbound Interstate 294 at mile marker 47. 

According to WGN 9 News, one person was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, but succumbed to them at the hospital. Nine people were treated and released at the scene. No further information has been released. 

It is still unclear how the wreck began, and the incident is still under investigation. As of 12:30 p.m. the tollway is expected to remain closed for the next several hours as crews clear the wreckage and investigate the incident.
