In the video, Insider News explores how deregulation in the 1980s changed trucking from a respected middle class job into a profession with long hours, high driver turnover rates, and lots of wasted time waiting. While drivers felt appreciated and were hailed as heroes during the early days of the pandemic, many now feel forgotten. Some of these frustrated drivers joined the Canadian or U.S. trucker convoy movements as a way to express their anger not only towards vaccine requirements but also toward the state of the trucking industry as a whole.
