Heavy rainfall caused flash flooding in the St. Louis area on Tuesday, forcing the closure of several major interstates.

 

Rainfall of five to ten inches has been reported in east-central Missouri, causing dangerous flash flooding in the St. Charles County and St. Louis County areas.

 

Some areas are expected to receive as many as 12 inches of rain on Tuesday.

 

No injuries were reported as a result of the flooding as of early Tuesday morning.

Multiple interstates are closed in the St. Louis area due to flooding. The Missouri State Highway Patrol lists the following interstates and roads as being impacted by high waters:

 
  • I-70 in St. Louis County
  • Route JJ near Pear Tree Rd
  • North and southbound US 61 in Flint Hill Area
  • 370 at St. Louis Mills Mall
  • NB I-270 south of I-70
  • Multiple locations of I-70 in St. Charles County

Officials are asking drivers to avoid flooded roadways.
